Day 347: The Other Big Apple

Hong Kong, China

Not knowing exactly what I wanted to see in Hong Kong, Aunt Sylvia suggested that we went to Repulse Bay and Stanley. We hopped on a bus that drove a long way out of the hustle and bustle of Hong Kong metropolitan district, through the winding mountain roads, to a coastal glamorous residential areas. The view off the Repulse Bay and Stanley reminded me of the French riviera; with the small curvy road overlooking the glittering blue sea and fancy yachts.

The crowds were significantly less compared to Central Hong Kong. Even though it’s summer holiday and the weather was perfect for hanging out on the beach, the bays were hardly filled up. I did notice a few wedding photo sessions taking place in the area. I can understand why. It’s a whole other world out here; totally posh.

In the evening, Jennie had arranged for us to go out to have a bite and drink with his friends. Again, hanging out with expat financial sort elevated me a few level up away from the lifestyle of backpacker bunch. We went to have a bar food dinner in the Times Square district of Hong Kong followed by a drink at a cool bar situated high up in a building, granting us a nice view of the city at night. It was a lovely day.
