Day 270: Gameplanning NZ’s South Island
Auckland – Christchurch, New Zealand
Christchurch is only an hour or so away on plane from Auckland but I had a really bad connection. My flight from Cairns to Auckland left at 11pm and got in at Auckland at 5:30am. The connecting flight after wasn’t until 12:30pm. To make matter worse, we were kicked out of our aircraft after an hour taxi-ing due to some mechanical problem with the plane. In the end, the airline decided to give us another plane.
I got into my hostel in Christchurch around 5pm. After asking around a few people in the hostel, it seemed to me if I couldn’t find a travel partner to share a campervan around NZ, I could just take intercity buses and they’re quite affordable.
Prior to going to bed, I replied to a Gumtree (OZ and NZ version of Craigslist) ad about a campervan ride share posted by a German girl. Figured if it works out, perfect… if not, I’d just go with my plan B.
