Day 233: Ciao ciao!
Santiago, Chile – Sydney, Australia
Finally, after three months, six countries, numerous friendly faces, and countless hours of bus rides, I had to leave South America.
Even though I was sad to leave the continent, I knew one day I’d return. So much more to see and I’d really love to settle longer in the future to pick up Spanish.
Anyway, today marked the day I’d start my no-meat-for-two-weeks challenge with Joe. So during the check in for my flight, I requested for vegetarian meal.
Somehow, it didn’t come through. The flight attendants said they didn’t have vegetarian meal prepared for me. This proved to be trickier than I thought. I was so close to just have the steak dinner when one of the attendants told me that if I waited until the business class were done with their dinner service, they could hook me up with something.
Half hour later, I got a hot plate of rice, cabbage and mushroom. In a ceramic plate. Fancy!
Apparently, this flight was the first direct flight Qantas had for Santiago – Sydney. I didn’t hear the announcement but the guy next to me told me that John Travolta was on the flight dressed as a captain.
