Day 232: End With a Tremor

Mendoza, Argentina – Santiago, Chile

The ride from Mendoza to Santiago brought us through a scenic route across the Andean mountains.

I saw earlier at the hostel that skydiving costs less than USD 200 in the area. It’s probably not a bad place to do it judging from the incredible view of the Andes. Our bus zig-zagged down the road down the valley. I was glad I did this as a day trip. Would totally have missed the spectacular scenery and not getting a good night sleep.

The land border control between Argentina and Chile was a lot tighter than elsewhere. They actually had us bring down all our baggages and had dogs sniff them out. Some people were demanded to open up their luggage.

When we finally reached Santiago, Adam and Andy parted ways with me as they’re continuing to Vina del Mar. Not being able to get in touch with my previous Santiago’s CS host, Eddie, I went and got myself settled in a hostel. Spent a quiet evening updating the blog. As I was seating on the floor, I noticed an earthquake. Fortunately, it was nothing serious. Earthquakes are actually pretty common in Chile. In fact, they even have a drink named after it, “Terremoto.” Although I never tried the drink, the actual terremoto was a nice way to end my South American trip.

Mañana, Australia!
