Day 224: Bucket Load of Water

Puerto Iguazu, Argentina

I arrived in Puerto Iguazu town at 9:30 in the morning and got into my hostel soon after. I couldn’t check in into my dorm room until 2 in the afternoon so I was forced to use the hostel bar’s restroom to freshen up a bit. In there, an Argentinian girl from Buenos Aires called Celeste chatted me up. Celeste asked if I just got in and planned to go to the Iguazu national park. She said she was heading there in ten minutes and offered me to join. I immediately got changed and went along with her.

Celeste and I walked to another hostel to meet up with her friend Flor and her family. Same deal with everything in Argentina, I had to pay more than double of what they paid to enter the national park.

The weather in Iguazu was quite different from Buenos Aires’. It’s tropical; hot and humid. Reminded me of the weather in Indonesia. I did not like it the slightest bit. The national park was nicely managed, with good walking paths and train systems to bring tourists to the main viewing points.

At the national park, there are enormous amount of butterflies flying about. The most incredible thing with these butterflies is that they are totally fearless of human interaction. We all had fun playing around with them.

Not being able to afford the expensive excursion with the boat that brings you underneath the Iguazu falls, Celeste and I went for the cheaper ecological boat ride along the river. It was rather boring. Would have totally skipped it had I known so.
