Day 188: Elises Moda!

Cusco – Ollantaytambo – Aguas Calientes, Peru

I have told multiple people that I wouldn’t mind not working in design field ever for the rest of my life.
Now, I second-guess that notion. After seeing Neil’s art and what he does with them, it brought back a certain kind of longing and restlessness; my designer past life  and the passion to create.

But yeah, I left my Cusco’s hostel to Macchu Picchu with a heavy heart. The past day and a half of painting mural brought a bit of homeliness and a more “normal” lifestyle. Could use more of it from time to time. But my one-year round the world trip tickets don’t allow me that option if I wish to see as many places as I can.

For visiting Macchu Picchu, I decided to buy a package from the travel agency. After weighing all my option, it seemed to be roughly the same price if I were to do it myself. Anyway, I’ll be writing a cheat sheet about this later.

My trip brought me from Cusco to Ollantaytambo on a bus. From there, I boarded the Peru Rail. My cabin was jam packed with old French tourists. I was disappointed at first but a French old lady named Chantal started talking to me and told me how she used to travel on her own back in 1966 for 2 years; only via ships and buses! Now, she’s on her second RTW trip with a cruise ship. It was interesting that despite our age difference, she and I totally could relate to each other and had the same attitude toasted life and travel. And by the way, Chantal also keeps a travel blog!

Arriving in Aguas Calientes, I found a Singaporean lady KaYen at the same place I was staying. We went out exploring the town together. I finally got to try eating the Peruvian delicacy “Cuy” (guinea pig.) Yummy!
