Day 185: Gracias Por Su Visita
La Paz, Bolivia – Desaguadero – Puno – Cusco, Peru
It’s time to head back to Peru. This time around I chose to go a different route; not through Lake Titicaca, but through a ghetto town called Desaguadero. Since the route was more direct, the line at the border control was long.
My bus seat was super comfortable. Pretty much like the first class seats on an airplane. However, as usual, the air-conditioning didn’t work. I was sweating my arse off while trying to kill time on the long bus ride watching “Boardwalk Empire” on my computer. Awesome show, by the way.
Our bus pulled into Cusco’s station at close to 10 at night. While I was arguing for prices with some taxi drivers, I took notice that a Spanish couple who were on the same bus with me were in the same situation. All taxi drivers quoted double what the price should have been so we decided to go together and split the cost. Laurita and Camilo were such a cute couple; very chatty and outgoing. As soon as we got into our room in the hostel, some 7 other Spaniards barged in and boy, were they loud. These are all Laurita and Camilo’s friends and they’re all mad funny. I tagged along with the lot to have dinner then hit up a couple bars afterwards. I came to like Spaniards a lot. They’re all generally very warm-hearted, witty, and have a sick sense of humour.
