Day 186: The Party and the After Party

Cusco, Peru

Spent the whole morning trying to figure out how I could get my hands on the ISIC card. With the card, one gets discount to the entrance fee to Machu PIcchu and also the bus and train tickets. In order to apply for the card, I’d need a university transcript as well as my class schedules. Obviously, I’m no longer a student so I tried to scheme up something from asking around for the fake ISIC card service to producing my own school transcript.. In the end, I gave up. Too much hassle for what it’s worth. I think I just liked the idea of hacking my way through the system.

In the afternoon, I joined the Spaniards plus two Argentinians to hit the town. There’s a Chocolate Museum and it’s free. We crashed in there for the free chocolate drink and free chocolate samples. Afterwards, we worked off the calories by trekking up the hill of Cusco to reach the Christ statue. Denis, one of the Spaniards, the joker of the bunch, pretended to be a tour guide and led us through alleyways and bushes to the site while giving us some made-up information about everything we saw. It was mad fun. Good time… good time.

I went back to the hostel totally knackered but then I saw two guys working on the mural that I had seen on the hostel wall earlier. I approached them and asked if I could join in. Not sure why, but I really wanted to paint. It’s been a while since I do anything productive. Neil’s the designer and Ronald is a friend of his helping out on the mural. Both of them were pretty chilled. They immediately let me join in and let me go about painting on my own. It was way after midnight when I put the brushes down and went to bed.
