Day 149: Found the Boa But Not the Elephant in It
Guayaquil – Puerto Lopez, Ecuador
Today’s main task was to travel from Guayaguil to Puerto Lopez in the northwest. It’s a beach town where I plan to finish up the DiveMaster course. Honestly, I’m not even sure why I need or want a DM certification. The main reason is probably because of the e-learning tests that I did earlier last year. The result is expiring in a month and it will be a total waste of 3 full days of studying and exams if I choose to just let it expire without completing my course.
We commuted to Puerto Lopez on a bus. Everything was smooth-sailing. Once we fought through the holiday crowds in the main bus terminal, 4 hours later and $4 poorer, we arrived in front of the Exploramar dive center.
And check this out! I saw this as the bus passed by and managed to snap a picture in time! It made my day though it is slightly different from what I had recalled. It’s missing an extra smaller hump.
Anyway, back to the dive center story. Michel, the main guy there, turned out to be super chill. Quite a difference from Bobby from Croatia.
The hostel is nice as well. $12.5 private room with bathroom, TV with satellite and air conditioning. Can’t go wrong with that. I slept in early in preparation for an early rise tomorrow and a brutal long day ahead.
