Rome – Orvieto – Florence, Italy
So I got to stay at Valeria’s place in Florence! I first knew Valeria last year when she and her friend Letizia surfed on my couch in NYC. It was really nice to be able to meet somebody familiar for once. Since Sarah, it had all been new faces.
Valeria lives in this super cute apartment really close to the city center. She shares it with her flatmate, Maddala. After dinner at their home, the two of them brought me strolling around Florence at night while having the best gelato I ever had. I found it weird yet refreshing that Florentines have the culture of just meandering their alleyways at night and not really having any specific destination in mind. Made me realize I never really did that in the States. It’s always a rush to go somewhere. I’d only been in Florence for a few hours and I liked it already. I’m sure it had a lot to do with the company I had…. plus the tasty gelato…. plus the sick architecture.
Side note: stopped by Orvieto on the way to Florence. Had their pork roll specialty and snapped some pics.
