Day 103: Aperitif

Florence – Fiesole – Florence, Italy

I arrived at the notoriously crowded Uffizi gallery at 8:45am trying to beat the midday madness. I think I succeeded? It was still a 45-min wait in line. Considered good compared to the normal 3-hour wait as I had been warned. Anyway, no photos taken of the artwork since it wasn’t allowed. The collection brought me back to my art history courses. I vaguely remembered a bunch of these paintings and their significance.

The afternoon was spent walking around the city and trekking with Honey and Carolina up to a hilltop to get a panoramic view of Florence. Met these girls on my bus.

Valeria had made arrangement for the evening. She and her friends had invited me to an “aperitif.” In an aperitif, one would pay for the price of a drink and get to have an all you can eat buffet. It’s a really good deal. Honey tagged along with us as well. Valeria’s friends were really welcoming. After dinner, they were keen to drive Honey and I to a neighbouring city to get an incredible night view of Florence.
