Day 101: Pinocchio Paradox

Rome, Italy

Tonight we dine in hell!!!!! What a minute, that’s 300 not Gladiator… and it’s Spartan, not Roman… and in any case I dined in the Indonesian Embassy, not in hell.

Anyway, Colloseum, Palatine Hill, Roman Forum, Pantheon, Pinnochio and Indonesian Embassy summed up today.

The last one was quite random eh? Long story short, an Indonesian girl, Dita, from CS saw from my status that I was in Rome so she invited me over to the embassy. It was the Idul Fitri (Muslim’s end of Ramadhan celebration) and there was an open house dinner at the embassy. Hurray! Free+Indonesian+food.

Conclusion after two days in Rome: it’s awesome!
Will I come back: oh yeah.
What had I missed this time around: day trip to Mt. Vesuvius and Pompeii :(

Also, bumped into this piece of information on Wiki and thought it was interesting:
There is a popular conception that Pinocchio’s nose grows only when he lies. Under this condition, the Pinocchio Paradox is an analogy for the liar paradox, expressing the dilemma of what will happen if Pinocchio says “My nose will grow now.” If he is lying, his nose should grow, but if his nose grows, then he is actually telling the truth. On the other hand, if he is telling the truth and his nose starts growing, then it will violate the condition that his nose grows only when he is lying.
