Day 93: About the Buses that BusAbout
Vienna, Austria – Munich, Germany
The trip from Austria onward for me should be fairly easy. I boarded the first leg on my BusAbout trip heading to Munich. From now on, my European trip will mostly be riding on BusAbout’s buses. Super convenient!
We made two stops along the way. One at Grunau, a picturesque tiny alp town, for lunch. And the other at Salzburg.
Note to self: Visit Salzburg next time. It’s famous for:
• Biggest ice cave in the world
• Salt mine tour (Salzburg literally translates to Salt City)
• Sound of the Music (funny enough, the Austrians never really quite knew about this movie until a decade ago)
• Mozart’s birthplace
• The origin of Baroque architecture
We got in Munich in front of a hostel but I wouldn’t be staying there. A girl named Emmy from Couchsurfing had agreed to host me. And guess what? She’s from my hometown, Medan! And she went to the same highschool as I did too! Small world. Too bad I caught her during her final exams so she couldn’t spend much time with me. I could have talked her ears off in my hometown dialect. I haven’t had much chance to speak it for years and was excited to be able to. It’s definitely a wee bit rusty.
