Day 58: Puta Que Pario!

Vela Luka, Croatia

I think I hit my boiling point today. I had been super low energy-wise the past few days since I had been coming down with a cold. Sore throat, stuffy nose and whatnot. The 16-hour day yesterday took a toll as well.

The morning went fine and smooth. My divers were awesome so no chasing around underwater and people shooting up on me. I also hit my 60 dives mark, which was the number required to get the Divemaster certification :]

But the afternoon was definitely what David (a new dive intern from Spain) would put as “puta que pario.” Storm, David and I were supposed to have our underwater navigation course, but instead, we were dragged to this neighboring bay to a beach by a hotel to set up swimming buoys. And each of the buoys was anchored with stones that weigh about 25 kilos each. David and I were carrying them underwater, moving them into their places. Puta que pariu!!! I was so pissed off by the time I got out of the water I was ready to give Billy a middle finger.

I think he saw that I was in rage and kept asking me if I was okay and then later on tried to lighten up the mood saying that “That was fun, eh?” I curtly said “No, it wasn’t.” Somehow, I just couldn’t put up with any bullshit today. I was mentally and physically burnt out. I ended up having a talk to Bobby afterwards, telling him that I felt a need to cut short my internship. I’d still love to finish my course and get my certification, but I’d just pay him whatever I owe him. I seriously didn’t think I could survive another month and that I might have to just take an easy way out. Yes, I was thinking of chickening out :0 He talked me out of it, for now.

After work, I was in the shittiest mood ever since I got here. I thought I would just sleep early but found out that there was another bonfire jumping event in the evening. I decided to join Storm, David and Adam for some fire jumping. It was definitely the right decision cos we had so much fun! We crashed different bonfire parties, jumping through them, and later on, hopping onto different construction vehicles taking shit load of photos; all the time, laughing ourselves silly by saying”puta que pario” the whole night through.

Croatian phrase of the day:

Pozovite policiju! = Call the police!

Hi Chell! It’s great to know that you’re traveling as well. Are you traveling with your husband? My “Gear” list is definitely not ideal since I find my backpack too heavy, I have to lose a few things :]
