Strange day today… Bobby pretty much told us interns to be tourists for the day. The reason was that some of our instructors …

I love animals, but this bird and his mates I want dead. Everyday, around 5am, they start chirping.
Anyway, I didn’t get much chance …
Day 16: Going for Gold
Vela Luka, Croatia
I started my Advanced Open Water Course today. Did three dives at The Aquarium, Smuggler’s Cove and Seahorse Bay. The first dive was for AWARE course, the second for Drift Dive and the last for Underwater Navigation. The dives were pretty easy except for the cold. I think all the volunteering work that I did for New York Aquarium pays off. I would have found this course a lot harder if I hadn’t dived since my Open Water course in Thailand back in 2009.
The dive site at Smuggler’s Cove was fantastic! At one point, there was a grass filed in the sea with sunlight coming through from the above the water. For a minute there, the divers seriously looked like they’re floating in this dreamy world.
Marjolein and Angelina will be heading back to the Netherlands tomorrow so Bobby threw a BBQ party at his place. He also gave us a ride from the dive center to his house. It’s a car the size of a Mini and 8 of us were in and on it! Bobby driving; Mikey sitting in the front; Andy, Sean, Adam and me in the back with my head popping out the sunroof; Tom and Sam laying down on the top of the car hanging onto the sunroof
The BBQ was really really lovely. Good food, tons of beers… frogs were croaking, and we’re playing guitar and singing in the evening breeze.
