Day 389: Elephant and Castle
Jaipur, India
Entry written by Anneleen:
The next day we got op really early in the morning to go to the Amber Fort for an elephant ride. The animals were huge and riding it was really bumpy, but overall it was a really nice experience. When we arrived at the main gate of the fort, we were welcomed by a loud drumroll and trumpet. The view from the fort was really astonishing.
We saw the hall of mirrors (Sheehs Mahal), were tiny pieces of mirrors were placed into specific patterns into the walls. We were amazed by the details. There were also a lot of beautiful wall paintings in the fort. We spent a few hours in there and got lost several times, because of the tangle of narrow hallways and stairs in it.
In the afternoon we went to Hawa Mahal, Albert Museum and Jantar Mantar. It got really hot and the local salesmen were really exhausting. They started their conversations almost always like this: Where are you from? Belgium?! Good country! Elys was constantly called Japanese.
