Medan, Indonesia
Mmm, breakfast was this Chinese rice dumpling which Indonesian called “Ki Cang.” I’m not particularly sure of its Chinese name. Basically, every fifth day of the fifth Lunar Month, during an event known as Duan Wu Festival, Chinese around the world would eat this along with another type of meat-filled rice dumpling called “Bak Cang.” Today wasn’t at all the day of the festival, but I had Ki Cang regardless, topped with Indonesian coconut jam.
Lunch was at an all-you-can-eat Korean buffet with Lili. We took a motorized rickshaw “Becak” to the newest and fanciest mall in town. The nearly two-hour lunch left me feeling lethargic. It’s hard not to eat out and overeat in Medan. There isn’t any other form of entertainment in town save for eating out.
