Day 234: Trans-Pacific
Santiago, Chile – Sydney, Australia
I don’t get it… I have not the slightest problem sleeping on buses. In fact, I have problem keeping awake and be productive on bus rides.
But on planes, I can’t sleep for more than half an hour. My guess is perhaps the seats on airplanes incline less making it uncomfortable? Or perhaps it’s the changing of timezones?
I landed in Sydney early evening and got in touch with Aunt Lili. I never met her. She’s my mom’s friend from highschool. The reason I’d be staying with Aunt Lili was because I was expecting my mom’s other friend, Aunt Ho would be coming to meet me up in Sydney.
Together, Aunt Ho and I were supposed to rent a campervan and traveled Australia. It was decided within the last month. As quickly as the plan came together, that’s almost how fast it fell apart. A few days ago, Aunt Ho found out that her dog got tumor and needed an operation. At this point, it didn’t seem feasible for her to do this trip anymore.
I was left plan-less. I could always do the usual public transportation way, like Greyhounding it, but I really didn’t want to. I had to concoct something else up and I needed first to get my feet wet in Australia, for I knew not much at all about it.
