Day 152: Oceans Burning

Puerto Lopez, Ecuador

Taking mask off underwater and swimming with eyes opened in pool water full of chlorine = bad idea.

Luis and I had to do our Divemaster course skill circuits in a pool today and one scenario that we had to do was exchanging scuba units underwater. It went something like this:

• Michel, Luis and I positioned ourselves in different part of the pool forming a triangle
• Each of us had to take our scuba unit off underwater, take our mask off and close the tank valve
• We then had to make a dash clock-wise to reach another scuba unit, open the tank valve, breath from it then put the scuba unit and mask on
• Repeat this procedure two more times until we each got back to our own unit

It was fun while it lasts, but my eyes went teary and hazy for a couple of hours afterwards All in all though, I did pretty well on the skill tests, scoring 4.6 out of 5
