Day 150: On’n’On

Puerto Lopez – Salango – Puerto Lopez, Ecuador

Well well well, these are what I had done today:

  • 400m swim
  • 20-min float
  • 800m snorkle swim
  • 100m tired diver tow
  • rescuing unconscious diver underwater
  • rescuing unconscious diver on surface and performing rescue breath
  • navigation and compass usage underwater
  • 10 PADI skills to demonstration quality
  • 2 fun dives
  • and  tanks-carrying!!! (Oh boy, this brings back memories)

I think I handled the course quite well so far, surprisingly. During the 400m swim that started off the day, I was seriously questioning if I was able to survive the day. I asked Michel the instructor is he could spare me the 800m snorkle swim for tomorrow. No luck. But the good news is, I did it and it’s out of the way. I hope. I have yet been briefed of my performance for the day.

I was ecstatic today on the boat. Check this out. The boat is a proper sized boat (as opposed of my old friend Hercules), with proper seats, proper boat captain, proper deckhand. Everything got handed to you. tanks changed for you. fins put on for you. Watermelon and cookies and sandwiches and cola during the surface interval. What what! I was used to dive instructors diving boat and dive interns manning anchors and tanks and having no space to move whatsoever on the boat while having the wet suits on during brutally hot summer days and getting cramps when putting on fins. The good ol’ days. I can go on and on. I’ll spare you the rants.

Adios!
