Day 135: A Long Winding Road
Ouarzazate – Marrakesh, Morocco
This morning the destination was decided and our bags were packed and our bus tickets were booked for Marrakesh. The ride ended up being about 6 hours but the views on the way were spectacular. Between Ouarzazate and Marrakesh was a large expanse of the Atlas mountains. The road hugged the mountain side as our driver maneuvered through the many twists and bends narrowly passing by other busses and trucks en route. We went with the climbing and fall of the bus until eventually we were on the other end.
Marrakesh is one of the largest cities in Morocco and a can’t miss for travelers. In a few days Elys and I would be flying out so we had a few days to spend wandering about the city. Once we found a place to stay, pretty cheap as well which was a surprise, we sat up on the roof and listened to the beatings of drums, the cheers of the on lookers, and the pipes of the snake charmers that played out from the Djemaa El Fna, the famous big square into Medina.
