Day 78: Big City Solitude
Budapest, Hungary
So much happened today and by the time I got back to my hostel in the evening, my legs felt like jelly from the amount of walking I did.
Morning – had to move to a new hostel since the one I stayed at was fully booked.
Noon – went to Buda area to check out the old town. Got lost and ended up travelling together with a Greece couple, Dimitra & Babis. Fun couple. They’re here for the Sziget Festival and Babis himself has a band called “Scars of Tears”. Kinda sound like Evanescene.
Afternoon – joined the Budapest’s free walking tour through the Jewish quarter. Learned not only about the Jewish’s community history in Budapest but also that the area is now really hip with the art & design scene. Was psyched!
Evening – met up with Kitti, a local 18-year-old girl from Couchsurfing, who was kind enough to want to show me around. She’s the best guide ever! Kitti must have gotten it in her blood since her dad is a tour guide. I had a really good time with her and when I returned to my hostel, I found a message from her saying that she told her family about me and her mom wanted to invite me over for dinner the next day. Yay!!!
