Day 31: Forever Delayed
Vela Luka, Croatia
Bobby decided to give me a day off today. I was really looking forward to it since I had not the time to do the necessary things. I spent the day cleaning the kitchen and the bathroom in the staff house. Their conditions were horrid. Piles of unwashed dishes in the sink and the bathroom floor was wet and muddy. Furthermore, we’re starting to have all sort of animals in the house: cockroaches, worms, spiders, grasshoppers, flies and even swallows building a nest in the our electric box. Fun!
In the afternoon, I spent hours in a cafe drinking lemonade and updating the blog. Took me a while since I was trying to catch up with 5-6 days worth of blog entries.
I had a bit of a panic moment thinking about the group of 50 polish and 20 british divers who would be arriving in two days. I reckoned I wouldn’t have the time of energy to do grocery shopping or go to Pizzeria Alfa for dinner, so I ended up buying some 250 kunas (US$50) worth of grocery. I also attempted to make a huge pasta dish that would last me for the next few days. I had no clue what I was doing. I basically threw in a can of tomatoes, frozen peas and carrots, lettuce, onions and a can of tuna into the pan. The result was interesting. Not exactly tasty, but definitely edible.
Croatian phrase of the day:
Nemam blage veze! = I have no idea!
