Day 210: Life Aquatic
Puerto Montt – Puerto Natales, Chile
Life aquatic of Elys Muda… was fun for half a day then I was sort of bored. Nothing much to do on the ship. The views were amazing but it’s too cold to be outside and be comfortable for a long stretch of time.
In the morning, I was watching two Swiss girls whom I befriended with the night before, Nicole and Kathrin, playing chess of the deck.
I think I would love to work as a deckhand on a boat or ship some time in my life. Just to know how it´s like. It seems a novelty; out in the blue, going places across the ocean. In reality, it´s probably gonna be a lot like my scuba diving internship experience. The grass is always greener on the other side.
The rest of the day was slow moving with occasional announcement about whales spotting. It was impossible to take good pictures as they’re elusive and rather far off from the ship.
One interesting incident that did happen was we stopped for an hour to send food supplies to another Navimag ship that had been stuck for days. The ship wasn´t allowed to dock due to some oil strike going on by the port. The details of the story escaped me…
