Day 106: Neptune Plage

Nice, France

The French riviera was made famous by Coco Chanel. She vacationed here in the 1920’s and went back to Paris with a tan and it was the first time people thought tan was fresh. By 1950’s, this area became the vacation destination for the rich and glamorous.

The Promenade D’Anglais by the beach is spectacular. Interestingly, the beach here is mostly pebbled. I was told that there’s some areas where it’s actually sandy. They imported the sand from Australia. Since I couldn’t really swim and sunbath due to the stupid bug bite marks, I just sat by the beach people watching.

I also went to check out a couple of museums: Marc Chagall’s and Henri Matisse’s. Both small and nothing to write home about really.
