Day 100: Holy Cow! It’s Day 100!

Rome, Italy – Vatican City, Vatican City

Holy cow! Rome blew my mind… I thought it’s gonna be another Venice case for me but no, Rome is absolutely brilliant. I had a field day taking panoramic photos :D Every single corner is a perfect place for one.

A couple of weeks ago, I wrote about the never ending staircase to the minaret in Mostar. It was nothing compared to the ones going up to the dome of St. Peter’s Basilica in Vatican City. Following the herd of tourists, I ended up waiting in line not knowing quite sure I was up to. Thought I made the wrong decision by paying $8 for the torturous climb. However, I later found out that I would have kicked myself on the arse (if possible) if I had missed it. The view!!!

I also went to the Vatican Museum. So much money in there… Maybe I should ditch the camel bandit career and switch to Vatican thief. Mmmm, Sistine Chapel is alright. Sorry Michelangelo. I know you broke your back and whatnot to create it. It’s cool… But there are other rooms in the museum which are equally, or if not, more stunning. See if you agree with me:

I sent Nathan a postcard from Vatican, the smallest sovereign in the world. Figure he’ll like it. The Vatican sure does.

It’s so interesting to read about the places I also visited a few months ago, although we stayed in Rome for a week with the class, so I really had the opportunity to be a part of the the great city. The Basilica is literally breathtaking and the Vatican is way to fantastic, I just couldn’t believe how can be so much cultural treasures at the same place. :)
Your route plan seems great btw. :)
